Although it would be amazing to win the grand prize, I am grateful just to have another chance to be able to screen The Raw Truth on the big screen. There is something magical that happens when a packed house interacts with this comedic documentary about people having mouthgasms about vegetables.
Yes, a Top Chef Master (Ludo) waxes poetic about the integrity of a carrot.
Yes, a Raw Vegan re-enacts his forbidden love affair with a cooked pizza.
The Raw Truth will surely make you crack a smile, gasp in disbelief, and pinch the person next to you. Could you have this much fun watching a documentary? If you’ve seen The Raw Truth on the big screen before, you already know the answer to this question. YES!!!
So please take a moment and help us out by voting for The Raw Truth. They will be counting all the votes on YouTube and Facebook so please vote on both!
Contest ends Oct 14 so time is running out!
And Please help us spread the word - we definitely need all the help we can get.

End of Principal Photography
Alas… we are reaching the end of shooting! We’re taking a break this weekend but afterwards, we have to do pick ups.
I feel like we got so much and yet I feel like we know nothing. We are still searching for the right way to tell this story. We have more subjects than any of the other projects, we have a lot of complicated concepts and processes we have to explain in a simplistic manner, and we are trying to make this documentary look like a real movie with less talking heads.
Check out our trailer! Our editors, Billy Sullivan and Barbara Steele cut this together for us.

Adam and Eve Production Stills!

Adam and Eve
This weekend we are staging a scene for our documentary. Basically what that means is that we are going to film a narrative section to put into our documentary.
The scene is going to be an Adam and Eve scene, complete with leaves as bikinis, a fake snake, and last but not least, processed food. Yup! The forbidden fruit will not be an apple but a sausage!
Pics to come soon.

PREPARING FOR PRINCIPAL PHOTOGRAPHY
I just sat down with my cinematographer, Luke Patton, at CRU, one of our favorite raw vegan/vegan restaurant. This weekend we will be going to the Taste of Beverly Hills, the Farmer’s Market at the Grove, and the LA Times Celebration of Food and Wine. We talked about the shots and the main point of each event. It’s always good to prepare in advance even if it doesn’t happen that way (as most documentary scenes change).
I had the Asian Noodle Bowl at Cru. I would have taken a pic of it, but I already have a number of pictures of it. You can check it out on my food blog. Yes, I have a food blog.
We will also be interviewing Rawsheed, famed raw chef and beloved mentor of the Raw Vegan lifestyle. You can more information about Rawsheed here and here.
I’m ecstatic about this weekend. We are hoping to visualize a space for the Raw Food movement in the LA food landscape and hoping to get some high profile chefs and local celebrities. Keep our fingers crossed!!!

From our test weekend!
We interviewed an ALL RAW family in Cerritos, CA. The children were super cute and full of energy. -
Raw Banana Ice Cream
When we visited Chef AJ over the summer, she made raw banana ice cream for us. I’m going to post a video of it up soon.
She got a frozen banana, put it through a juicer, and out came banana ice cream. She topped it with cacao nibs and Jess and I DEVOURED it.
I was completely taken aback at how easy and simple it was and it really was just two ingredients: banana & cacao nibs.
Amazing.
